BBS Spotlight - Reena Palanivel
This week’s BBS Spotlight focuses on BBS associate, Reena Palanivel! Reena was born and raised in South Jersey. She graduated from Villanova University in 2012 where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and minored in Political Science. Reena spent a semester abroad studying Global Health and Development in Switzerland. After college, she served a year in AmeriCorps where she completed over 1700 hours of service with the Philadelphia Health Corps. Reena obtained her J.D. from University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law in 2017. During law school, she was a member of the Journal of Health Care Law and Policy, Student Health Law Organization, and Maryland Carey Service Corps. In her final year of law school, she participated in the School to Prison Pipeline Clinic focusing on restorative practices, school policy reform, and advocacy with young students in Baltimore City. She was a Aaron Health Law Fellow obtaining a Health Law Certificate, a Rose Zetzer Fellow for women and leadership in the legal profession, and recipient of the William P. Cunningham Award for exceptional achievements and service to the school. Prior to joining the firm, Reena worked at a general practice firm in Kennett Square, PA where she represented clients in a variety of matters including family law, estate planning, DUIs, civil litigation, and personal injury. Reena now focuses her practice in the areas of automobile and premise liability matters in Pennsylvania. In her free time, Reena enjoys traveling, learning to cook different cuisines, and spending time with family and friends!
