BBS Spotlight - James Shay
This week’s BBS Spotlight focuses on BBS associate, James Shay! Jim received his Juris Doctor from Rutgers University School of Law in 2015 and is a member of the Pennsylvania and New Jersey bars. Jim earned his bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he spent four years as a staff reporter, senior writer and print sports editor at The Daily Illini. Prior to joining the firm, Jim was an associate at a regional creditors’ rights firm, where he represented the interests of secured lenders in foreclosure and U.S. Bankruptcy proceedings. Jim’s practice shifted to insurance defense in 2017, when he joined the SIU and Property Litigation department of another Philadelphia-based defense firm. At BBS, Jim specializes in bad-faith litigation, first- and third-party property claims and UM/UIM cases, as well as pre- and post-litigation coverage analysis and claim investigation. Jim hails from the North Shore of Chicago and is a die-hard Detroit Red Wings fan. Last year he completed a thru-hike of the Pacific Crest Trail, which spans 2,000+ miles from the Mexican border in California to the Canadian border in Washington state. When he is not in the backcountry, Jim plays goalie in the local men’s ice hockey league and spends as much time as possible “down the shore”.
