Jim Blumenthal is a member of the firm and is an advocate for the defense. Jim handles insurance matters including defending auto bodily-injury cases ranging from tort threshold to catastrophic losses, defending premises liability cases, analyzing coverage issues, and conducting investigations into insurance fraud. Jim assists his clients with all aspects of a loss, from claims evaluation and investigation through litigation, mediation, settlement negotiation, and trial.

Jim is an active trial attorney, licensed in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York; having defended over 100 jury trials to verdict across the tri-state region. Jim’s focus is in South Jersey.

Jim has earned the distinction as a “Certified Civil Trial Attorney” which is granted by the Supreme Court of New Jersey to attorneys who exhibit significant levels of experience, knowledge, and skill in civil trial practice. The Supreme Court, through the Board on Attorney Certification, designates this honor to those lawyers who are able to meet the standards set by the Board and then are accepted by the Court. Only about 3% of active lawyers in New Jersey hold this distinction.

Jim began his legal career as an assistant district attorney in Bucks County. His practice as a prosecutor has influenced his perspective on how a civil case should be defended. He believes that an aggressive and thorough approach to discovery is the key to building a defense. At every phase of litigation, Jim is thinking about how what he is doing will shape his closing argument to a jury.

Jim attended college at the University of Pennsylvania and then American University’s Washington College of Law. Jim was a wrestler and rugby player in a former life.
