David Otis is a graduate of Gettysburg College and in 1972, the Villanova University School of Law where he served on the Moot Court Board. While Serving in the United States Army, he was assigned to the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate at Ft. McClellan, Alabama, primarily representing WAC personnel before administrative discipline boards.
Prior to joining Bennett, Bricklin & Saltzburg's Delaware County/Chester County, Pennsylvania office in September, 2002, Dave practiced for thirty years in Media, as a partner with both the Liebert, Short & Hirshland and most recently Beatty, Cramp, Kauffman & Lincke firms. He has practiced extensively in the defense of automobile, premises liability, medical malpractice and nursing home negligence, products liability and toxic tort/asbestos litigation. Dave has jury trial and arbitration experience in each of the Philadelphia suburban counties, as well as in Philadelphia County and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. He has successfully handled a number of cases involving significant claims for punitive damages.
Dave served as a law clerk to the Honorable William R. Toal in Delaware County and as a civil judge pro tem for the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas from 1996 until 1999. In 2002 he was appointed a Facilitator in the Delaware County Civil Case Settlement Program, and is active as a Master of the Bench in the Guy G. DeFuria American Inn of Court. He holds an "AV" rating, the highest given by Martindale Hubble in its peer assessment rating system.
Dave is currently the vice-chair of the board of directors of the Society for the Performing Arts of the Media Theater.
